ODP Calender 2014 Released
ODP Mysore: on 22 January 2014, Rev. Msgr. J B Xavier – Former Director of Organization for the Development released the ODP Calender for 2014 , Vice – President Rev. Msgr. N.S. Marie Joseph, Vicar-General, Rev. Fr. Staney D’ Almeda – Executive Director cum secretary of Organization for the Development of People, and all the ODP staff were present during the function.

Calender will provide a bird's eye view of all the major activities of Organization For The Development People (ODP) for the year 2014, This calender release will help ODP to reach its grass root level and give the awareness about its activities which empower the poor and needy people to make use of ODP's existing channel to get their rights protected. ODP is releasing its first Calender since its inception. During his inaugural speech Rev. Msgr. J B Xavier – Former Director of Organization for the Development, congratulated Rev. Fr. Staney D’ Almeda – Executive Director cum secretary for taking the initiative and making it happen. He also congratulated Mr. Varaprasad & Mrs. Shashirekha for their consistent efforts in supporting the director in bringing out the Calender.

Organization for the Development of People, Process Management System Version 2.0 Officially Released on 22 January 2014 By Rev. Msgr. N.S. Marie Joseph, Vicar-General (Vice President Organization for the Development of People) And Honorable Presence of Director and Staff of ODP- SIPSS GLOBAL the Mysore Based Indian Information Technology enabling company took this project in 2012 and started working with ODP and today is the second version release of this project.

Implementing a Process Management System to achieve the goal of ODP – “Integrated Human development” in a better and professional way by addressing the need with proper analysis and clear process to empower the organization to reach the role of an agent that enables, encourages, and facilitates the creation of active and committed leaders in the communities who are dedicated to the cause of the uplift of the downtrodden.

SIPSS-GLOBAL Engagement with odp is: Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) for Software as a Service for 3 Years was signed and the project kicked off on 7th November 2012. Our development team is working with ODP Officials to implement a clear process to capture the necessary data which is very much useful for the Organizational level analysis and helpful to improve the operational efficiency in a proper and structured way. Development / implementation / Training / Modifications are in progress which is almost inline with the committed schedule. Agile Methodology for software development is been followed wherein it means having 1 : 1 interaction while building the software.

Achievements of the Mahilodaya during 2012 | ODP Mysore
- 21 school dropout children were identified and joined back in schools. Counseling was given to their parents on the importance of education
- 8 child marriages were stopped with the help of Anganawadi /Asha workers, Women and Child Development Department and the local youth. Motivation and legal awareness was given to parents and the matter was taken to the notice of the Social Welfare Board for further follow up.
- 3 widow marriages were conducted at Brahmapura and Ikkadahalli with the support of SHGs and villagers.
- 2 cases of illegal sale of liquor and neera were stopped by the members of men and women SHGs of Kannur and Muruganahalli villages with the help of the local police and excise department.
- The misuse of documents belonging to 3 SHG members by the G.P. members at Kamagere to resell their house sites
- was tackled. The CC and SHG members lodged a complaint with the police and got back the documents.
- 116 cases of family conflicts, domestic violence, dowry harassment, occupation of house site by neighbours, and illegal contacts were resolved with the help of Help Line, the Legal Authority Board, the Village Panchayaths, Taluk Panchayaths, Santhvana centers, Parish Priests, professional counselors, and the Police.
- 1 inter-caste marriage was conducted in Kollegal through the intervention of Sangha leaders.
- District Level Protest Rallies against women atrocities (attempted gang rape in a running train at Mandya/attack on women in homestay, Mangalore) were held in Mandya, Kodagu and Mysore.
- As a result of the efforts of the SHG members, the delayed payment of wages of 12,900/ was released to 20 card holders of Timmarajapura and Mangala villages, who did desilting of water tanks under MGNREGA.
- 8 cases involving Public Distribution System (PDS) were set right through the help of Consumer Courts.
- Mahilodaya Maha Okkuta organized a signature campaign in the entire 4 districts of our working area and collected 27,652 signatures – demanding systematic functioning of Gram Panchayaths.
- Through the intervention of SHG members, Rathnammaa member of Brahmalingeshwara SHG of Doddamalapura
- received the first installment of 25,000/ house grant from the Panchayat that was withheld for 3 years.
- Children Gram Sabha was held at Martalli where students from Government and private schools and colleges participated and submitted an application to President / PDO of Panchayath for providing good roads, drinking water and transport facilities.

IN PROTEST AGAINST ATROCITIES ON WOMEN | By WEP ODP-Mysore

ODP organized a protest in front of the District Commissioner’s Office, Mysore, on 1 August, in protest against attacks on girls who were celebrating a birthday party in Mangalore city and the ghastly act of pushing a girl out of the running train in Maddur by some miscreants.
Led by the Director, the Asst director, the Coordinator and the Zonal Coordinator, the group met the District Commissioner and submitted a memorandum demanding stringent action against the culprits and for necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
ODP’s office and field staff and 150 women and men members of the SHGs of Mysore zone took part in this protest. Enthusiasts from general public also joined the protest. The print and electronic media gave a wide coverage.
