
‘ORGANIZATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE’ (ODP), is the Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) of Mysore intended for an integrated human development of the socially and economically disadvantaged, the underprivileged and the marginalized sections of Society. Inspired by Christian values of love, sharing, caring, universal brotherhood, concern for the needy, Equality, Justice and Peace, the Diocese of Mysore established and registered the Organization (ODP) on 4th January 1984.

Government Facilities Availed by Mahalodaya in 2012
- Carmel SHG of Naganahalli, Annapurneswari SHG and Chaithrajyohi SHG of Hosapenjalli availed 10,30,000/ from Banks – as loan for IG Activities (milch cows, floriculture, etc.)
- 3 members of Navajyothi SHG started a tailoring center at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, with a loan of 15,000.
- 2 members of Jyothi SHG, Madapura availed houses under Ashraya Housing Scheme.

Drainage Construction at Hithalagudda and Timmarajapura with the help of goverment
Through the efforts of Indira and Chandrika SHG members, a new drainage was constructed at Hithalagudda and Timmarajapura measuring about 500 meters and 60 meters respectively.

Drinking water problems were resolved in 19 villages
Drinking water problems were resolved in 19 villages through the intervention of the SHG members. In V. Chatra 2 bore-wells were dug with the help of Mr. Putta Ranga Shetty, MLA, under the “Baraparihara” scheme and the prevailing drinking water problem was resolved. 3 mini water tanks and 1 bore well were constructed at Boodukatte for the benefit of about 35 families.

SNEHA HIV / AIDS Project meeting Updates 2011 – ODP Mysore
Regular monthly meetings of the children support group were organized at Madikeri, in which 16 children and their parents participated and received nutritional, medical, educational and travel support.
On 11th December, Snehashraya meeting was conducted at Madikeri. 16 CLHIVs along with their parents participated. Food grains and clothes were distributed to each one of them.
Trainings and Inputs:
- 3 trainings were organized for PLHIVs for strengthening of network, life skills and Rights of PLHIVs at Mandya. 65 members and network staff participated. Mrs. Surekha (Lawyers’ collective), Mrs. Sumitra (CFAR) and Mrs. Rani Chandrashekar were the resource persons.
- 28 awareness sessions were conducted on HIV/AIDS, modes of transmission, prevention, care and support to PLHIVs – for school / college students, SHG members and members of VHCs / GPs in the target villages. In all 1404 members benefited from the sessions.
- 5 awareness programs were conducted in collaboration with Addayana Vidya Trust, Mandya – to GP members / VHC members / Youths and ASHA workers on HIV / AIDS at PHCs in Hosabudnur, Maragowdanahalli, Hodegatta, Hemmige and Sunaganahalli. 157 members participated.
