Achievements of the Mahilodaya during 2012 | ODP Mysore

  • 21 school dropout children were identified and joined back in schools. Counseling was given to their parents on the importance of education
  • 8 child marriages were stopped with the help of Anganawadi /Asha workers, Women and Child Development Department and the local youth. Motivation and legal awareness was given to parents and the matter was taken to the notice of the Social Welfare Board for further follow up.
  • 3 widow marriages were conducted at Brahmapura and Ikkadahalli with the support of SHGs and villagers.
  • 2 cases of illegal sale of liquor and neera were stopped by the members of men and women SHGs of Kannur and Muruganahalli villages with the help of the local police and excise department.
  • The misuse of documents belonging to 3 SHG members by the G.P. members at Kamagere to resell their house sites
  • was tackled. The CC and SHG members lodged a complaint with the police and got back the documents.
  • 116 cases of family conflicts, domestic violence, dowry harassment, occupation of house site by neighbours, and illegal contacts were resolved with the help of Help Line, the Legal Authority Board, the Village Panchayaths, Taluk Panchayaths, Santhvana centers, Parish Priests, professional counselors, and the Police.
  • 1 inter-caste marriage was conducted in Kollegal through the intervention of Sangha leaders.
  • District Level Protest Rallies against women atrocities (attempted gang rape in a running train at Mandya/attack on women in homestay, Mangalore) were held in Mandya, Kodagu and Mysore.
  • As a result of the efforts of the SHG members, the delayed payment of wages of 12,900/ was released to 20 card holders of Timmarajapura and Mangala villages, who did desilting of water tanks under MGNREGA.
  • 8 cases involving Public Distribution System (PDS) were set right through the help of Consumer Courts.
  • Mahilodaya Maha Okkuta organized a signature campaign in the entire 4 districts of our working area and collected 27,652 signatures – demanding systematic functioning of Gram Panchayaths.
  • Through the intervention of SHG members, Rathnammaa member of Brahmalingeshwara SHG of Doddamalapura
  • received the first installment of 25,000/ house grant from the Panchayat that was withheld for 3 years.
  • Children Gram Sabha was held at Martalli where students from Government and private schools and colleges participated and submitted an application to President / PDO of Panchayath for providing good roads, drinking water and transport facilities.
